Hard to believe it's been nearly 3 months since Leo shocked Ireland with his speech from Washington. Within the Kooba offices we had been planning to trial working from home ahead of the expected lockdown, but Leo ensured we started the team lockdown that very evening.

We feel very fortunate to work in an industry that allows us to be able to easily shift from working in an office environment to working remotely. We've also been able to easily maintain our closeknit team work style by using collaboration tools such as Hangouts, Slack & Basecamp. Bizarrely we feel that during this period we have produced some of our best ever work. In the last few months we've launched a number of new websites including: Bloom, Bord Bia, Cloudsmith, Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland, Home Building Finance Ireland, the RDS and Halo Tiles. So we've proven we can successfully work from home, but in saying that, we can't wait to return to the studio.

As we plan our return to the office and the new normal, it gives us a chance to step back and look at the current landscape. Many companies have been in survival mode since the lockdown began and we've seen some successful clients of ours have no other choice but to shut their doors. Thankfully Ireland is beginning to reopen and this gives us a chance to change the focus from surviving the lockdown to helping our clients get their businesses back on track.

As a digital agency we have always stressed the importance of your digital presence as a company. Just look at some of our recent blog posts if you have the time. You’ll find really useful and insightful articles about choosing a digital agency, the importance of a great relationship and some design tips.

We've seen that when the world stops and the only option is digital - it forces everyone to think about how to enhance their online presence. Naturally with companies primary focus on survival, getting a quick fix in place is going to be the priority. However, we would stress the importance of taking the time to ask yourself a few questions.

So what does success look like?

This is the key question we ask any new client. It should be taken as a given that your new website is going to look well. You will see many before/after shots on agency websites trying to illustrate how much better the new website looks compared to the old (and if this isn't the case something is seriously wrong), but we believe success extends further than looks alone. We maintain that success should be more about the metrics that matter to your business. Metrics that we can track. Metrics that we focus on during every part of our project. Metrics that can ensure you achieve a return on your investment. Metrics that should include:

  • Drive more quality leads
  • Drive more sales
  • Increase conversion rate

If you are currently planning for your return to the new normal, get in touch as we would be more than happy to help.
