This year we were delighted to yet again have a number of projects shortlisted for The Spider Awards. The Spiders are the leading web awards in Ireland and showcase talent and digital excellence. As such, any nomination is always a huge endorsement of our work.

This year we have been nominated for three different Spider Awards for our work on Mobility Mojo and AXA | Community Bike Rides.

Mobility Mojo has been nominated for two categories this year - Best Universal Design and Best Website. As this was a very exciting project for us to take on, and one particularly close to our hearts, we were thrilled to see it nominated for two different awards.

When we partnered with Mobility Mojo to design and develop their new website there was one simple aim for the site: to open the world to everyone. Mobility Mojo wanted their website to promote the concept of accessible travel with the aim of 'mainstreaming accessibility by removing the fear and awkwardness around it. Deep down everyone is open to the world. We just want to make sure that the world is open to everyone.'

The project began with a needs analysis process that ensured we had a clear understanding of all relevant business requirements and objectives. We then worked with Mobility Mojo on the UI design to bring the brand to life online through the use of colour, photography, iconography, video, illustration and typography.

We implemented a simple, clear navigation and user-focused design that took into consideration specific user needs. Our aim was a site that was fully accessible and a model of clarity for ALL users, and one that was fully responsive and rendered beautifully on all devices. We’re proud of the result, and delighted to see it recognised in this year’s awards.

“Kooba delivered everything we hoped for and more. They took the design brief, worked with us over numerous weeks to develop it, and delivered something we are exceptionally proud of. Nothing was a problem (and we can be difficult!). Fully deserving of all awards that come their way.” - Stephen Cluskey, CEO Mobility Mojo

AXA | Community Bike Rides has been nominated in the Digital for Good Award/Not for Profit category. We loved working on this project, and the end result was a wonderful site that is visually appealing, responsive, effective and easy to navigate.

The project began in the same way as all our projects do, with a thorough needs analysis to ensure that we understood the goals and objectives of the project. During the design phase we worked hard to create a site that looks great, but also includes all the relevant information without being cluttered.

Simple navigation was key to this site as there would be a multitude of different audiences who needed to be able to find the relevant information quickly and easily. As with all of our sites, we ensured that the AXA | Community Bike Rides website was responsive across all devices and all screens. We also worked to ensure that design and technology never got in the way, but rather assisted in the delivery of the key messages of the website.

These nominations follow on from great success last year in which Aviva Stadium was voted Best User Experience and Design in Ireland. In total we’ve won over a dozen industry awards over the years in a number of different categories.

We’re looking forward to what Thursday night will bring and are keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll come back Friday morning with a new Spider award or two!
