MCD is Ireland's largest live music and event promoter, hosting the world's most well-known artists at national landmark venues like 3Arena and 3Olympia.
As a driving force in an industry that revolves around online media and ticket sales, the iconic brand was in need of an equally iconic digital experience.
Kooba is an agency with several digital partners in the entertainment industry and a love for live music, comedy and theatre– so, we thoroughly enjoyed the MCD challenge from beginning to end. Here’s a peek into the process.
In the design studio.
MCD gave us only the logo and colour palettes. We fleshed out all the additional elements from there: typography, web styles and the overall brand look-and-feel.
We wanted to match the overall tone of the voice of the brand – young, lively, exciting and bold.
Using an all-black approach enables the site imagery to pop, while giving the user an immersive experience.
The moving strips throughout the site are decorative, yet functional. They signpost users towards key web pages.
The technical legwork.
A lot of MCD traffic comes from mobile, so we knew that mobile performance would be a major focus. The site loads quickly, even if a user is out and about.
The artists' faces displayed on the homepage act as an exciting welcome to the site. We made sure these images fit perfectly, regardless of device.
MCD has hundreds of upcoming events at any given time. The site allows users to filter by genre, venue or artist to find the experience they're looking for.
