Creatives Against Covid-19 is a collaborative campaign that was started to raise funds for ISPCC Childline and Women’s Aid. This initiative shed light on the reality that the current social isolation measures during the Covid-19 pandemic are especially dangerous for women and children suffering from domestic violence and that we can do our part (from home!) to help those in need.

The idea behind the campaign was to have people create posters that were inspired by the theme of ‘soon’ and brought feelings of hope, optimism and resilience to the current situation. This initiative provided an opportunity for creatives from all over to have a bit of fun and put forward their idea or interpretation of ‘soon’.

Our team decided to jump on board and take part in the initiative and we’ve compiled their submissions and the inspiration behind each of their designs below.

Title | Move to trash

Inspiration |

“For the Creatives Against Covid–19 campaign, I created a poster around surgical face masks within the theme ‘soon’. Since this pandemic has escalated, more and more people are wearing face masks in public. This poster reflects the time when we find a vaccine and go back to some sort of normality. We will be able to bin our face masks, Soon.”

Title | Murmuration

Inspiration |

“The current worldwide lockdown is the world’s biggest psychological challenge. I wanted to visually represent these dark times using the black bold typography of “SOON”, symbolising the strict confinements of the indoor lockdown. But to communicate what efforts of social distancing will bring, I visually expressed what freedom will look like through the typography transitioning to a “Murmuration” of birds. This phenomenon occurs when hundreds, sometimes thousands, of starlings fly in swooping, intricately coordinated patterns through the sky, symbolising how our freedom from these restrictions will begin soon.”

Title | Working from home to save our home

Inspiration |

“Working from home to save our home idea came from the idea that although we are stuck at home working, we are still playing our part. The design uses visual queues from a computer with old school Windows 95 loading graphics and represents the globe as a visual asset that is rendering the more it loads this human compassion.”

Title | Soon ❤️⁣

Inspiration |

“I wanted to focus on a typographical approach for the campaign theme “Soon”. In design, colour can evoke different types of emotions, so I opted for vibrant colours to portray optimism. The overlapping typography is symbolic of not having to practice social distancing when the pandemic is finally over.<3"

Title | ‘Soon’

Inspiration |

“Self-isolation put us apart, but the hopes of being reunited soon kept us together. This was the inspiration for my poster “Soon” where the letters ‘So’ ‘On’ gradually move towards each other marking the end of the self-isolation period when we will all gather and celebrate.”

Title | Pintman

Inspiration |

“For Creatives Against Covid 19, I designed a poster to show how much I miss pints with my Kooba colleagues. Right now, people are spending a lot of time playing video games so I was inspired by the classic pacman’s fondness for eating ghosts.

There is also a famous character in Irish Internet lore named Paddy Losty A.K.A the Pintman. A man famed for his love of creamy pints. By combining these two characters, the Pintman video game concept was born. In the poster you can see our protagonist working his way through a re-opened Utopian Dublin City from pub to pub.

Title | Good craic is coming

Inspiration |

“I love typography and very clean and minimalist artwork and as an immigrant in Ireland, I am fascinated with the strong and unique Irish culture, Good Craic is that expression that reminds me of the best moments that I have had here, with friends, laughter, cold beer, you know, a good life... It is part of Ireland, and never will be gone.”

Title | Light Persists

Inspiration |

“My poster is based on the visual representation of a sunrise, which symbolises hope & positivity. The artwork is supported by a well known saying from Mahatma Gandhi, ’In the midst of darkness, light persists’.”
