Building a leader driven site for IoD

IoD Ireland is a network for directors, a membership body for over 3,000 company directors and business leaders across the nation. In 2020, Kooba was appointed as their digital partners to design and deliver an engaging online experience that drives new sign-ups as well as supports existing members.Earlier this year, in close collaboration with their selected branding agency, we helped IoD to seamlessly integrate their new brand identity across the website.

User-centric approach to drive business goals

At Kooba, we are relentlessly working on perfecting our UX/UI process by placing the end-user at the heart of everything we do. For IoD, we adopted a user-centric approach, coupled with a clear understanding of the business goals and objectives that drove the project. In order to further accentuate the effectiveness, we implemented a comprehensive rebranding initiative for IoD. By aligning the branding agency’s expertise along with our design and development prowess, we were successful in delivering a cohesive and impactful digital experience.

Creating an engaging space for multiple audiences

A key project metric was to boost new member sign-ups while simultaneously catering to the distinct needs of both pre-existing members and non-members. With increased focus on onboarding, the platform was designed to offer an intuitive user journey to visitors which guided them through the benefits of being a member and ultimately lead them to the online application form. The rebranding played a crucial role in this endeavour by enabling us to refocus our efforts on creating an engaging space for multiple audiences. By creating a harmony between the brand identity and IoD's vision and values, we were able to craft a digital environment that resonated with both existing and potential members, fostering a sense of community.

An innovative strategy driven by curiosity

We also wanted to place emphasis on the exclusive advantages that come with IoD membership. To accomplish this, we focused on showcasing members-only content, which in the past was not accessible by non-members. Bringing in an innovative strategy, the platform would then offer a teaser which would give non-members a sneak peek into the exclusive content. This approach allowed IoD to create curiosity and harness the allure of member-only content as a powerful marketing tactic, attracting new members by providing them a glimpse of the unique value and benefits that await them upon joining the IoD community. The enhanced visual identity and messaging to better communicate the exclusivity and value of IoD membership, helped reinforce the intrigue and desire for access. By addressing the needs of both members and non-members, the new IoD site successfully fostered an environment that catered to the diverse requirements of its audience while driving membership growth.

The team at Kooba helped improve and optimise key metrics across the IoD website, particularly driving new member sign ups with a conversion focused UX strategy. We introduced them to an industry leading Content Management System that ensured full training and support to enable and empower IoD to take control of their content strategy. This was significantly bolstered by the rebranding initiative, aligning the visual identity and messaging with IoD's esteemed standing. The website now serves as a compelling digital gateway for current and prospective members reinforcing the vision to make Ireland an exemplar of corporate governance.
