Overview
An Evergreen Digital Solution
Kooba first designed and developed the Bord Bia Bloom website in 2020, and as Bord Bia’s objectives for the event have changed, so has the website. First, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Kooba adapted to accommodate the #BordBiaBloomAtHome campaign, transforming Bloom into a digital event. When Bloom returned, Kooba expanded the website to engage and prepare in-person attendees. Now, with Bord Bia again reimagining the role of Bloom, Kooba have delivered a new range of strategic modifications to the event website.

Seasonal and Permanent
Although the initial Bord Bia Bloom website was designed to be used exclusively for the annual festival, the scope of the website has increased dramatically since. Over the past year, Bord Bia envisioned a strategic shift, aiming to use the platform to promote Irish gardening, horticulture, and produce throughout the entire year, not just during a one-off event. Now, the Bloom website serves as a permanent resource on Irish horticulture, with seasonal updates reflecting changing Irish growing conditions. The website also provides relevant content before, after, and in the lead-up to the event itself, with the integration of a weather forecast widget, as well as a live reminder of the event date.

A Gardening Hub
In order to better support the broader horticultural mission of Bloom, Kooba included a variety of useful content on gardening and Irish food, clearly organised in the “Gardens” dropdown. By providing informative value to Bloom’s audience, the website has become a genuine resource for anyone seeking to improve their gardening knowledge. This perfectly connects the experience of the Bloom event with Bord Bia’s wider strategic goal of encouraging and improving Irish gardening.

Bringing it to Life
As part of this realignment of the Bloom website, Kooba were eager to incorporate a more lively and engaging user interface across the entire user experience. This was accomplished with the creation of a beautiful and bespoke set of visual assets, which were combined with event imagery and videos across a redesigned home page. Kooba’s frontend development team also ensured that modules across the website were animated and responsive, allowing users to genuinely engage with valuable content at every stage in their journey. As a final touch, we implemented a bespoke map feature for event-day attendees, updated in real-time to match live events.
